History of Our Program
UW-Madison's Program, one of the earliest laboratory training programs, was established in 1925 at the University of Wisconsin General Hospital.
In 1936, Medical Technology became an
undergraduate major in the College of Letters and Science.
The present Clinical Laboratory Science degree at the UW-Madison, offered through the School of Medicine and Public Health, retains the basic science emphasis and includes courses to meet the challenges of health care today and in the future. The CLS/MT curriculum has served the educational and professional needs of a substantial number of students. UW-Madison graduates are well qualified for many kinds of positions in clinical, research, and biotechnology laboratories, industry, or graduate/professional study.
